Charter Oak, Iowa. January 7, 2012:
The Western Iowa Warblers are ready to
rock and roll!
Enthusiasm
for the team is high as the Warblers
prepare for their first season in Iowa.
Fans are optimistic now that the team
has taken steps to solidify its starting
rotation with the acquisition of
left-hander John Lannan from the Gulf
Coast Brees and the drafting of
right-hander Brandon McCarthy.
General
Manager Richard Merrill was excited
about a Lannan-McCarthy tandem at the
top of the rotation. "The power
rankings say we might not win many
games, but we will have some awesome
music between innings," Merrill said.
"And our new acquisitions will
definitely improve clubhouse morale.
These guys are leaders. After a tough
loss, I'm sure John and Paul--er,
Brandon-- will be right there telling
the guys to just "Let it Be" and get
back out there tomorrow."
Fans are
excited about how the rest of the draft
might play out. Speculation was that
the club would go after 3b Josh
Harrison. However, Merrill cautioned
that fans should not get their hopes up
too high. "With the state of our roster
the possibility of either drafting a
Star(r) or acquiring one in trade would
seem to be pretty slim."
Team scouts
are also scouring the minor leagues to
find a pitcher named Lane to go with
trade acquisition Brad Penny.
Background checks were being done on 3b
Brandon Wood and pitchers Blake Wood and
Tim Wood to see if any of them were
Norwegian. Team sources noted that
catcher Mike (Father) McKenry is also
available in the draft.

Dallas, TX ? January 23,
2012:
With
the help of the Diamond-Mind
Base- ball simulation
engine, the Dallas Lone
Stars have put together
their initial
25-man roster to compete in
2012. "The Dallas Lone Stars
do not play to tank for
draft picks. We will put
the best team on the field
and try to win as many games
as we can. We will do this
every year," said Dallas
owner Kevin Hitt. The Lone
Stars boasts one of the most
potent middle-of-the-order
lineups in The BUNT League.
A
First baseman Miguel Cabrera
will anchor the lineup, with
the potential to hit
.344/.448/.586 with 30 home
runs and 108 walks. Batting
behind him will be right-
fielder Justin Upton, who
hit could very well hit
close to 31 homers and steal
up- wards of 20 bags.
Rounding out the Lone Stars
power-hitters are Mark
Reynolds (37 home runs) and
Mike Stanton (34 home runs).
A
Pitching is where the Lone
Stars will struggle. An
injury to John Lackey does
not bode well for Dallas,
but Daniel Hudson and Bruce
Chen should have good
seasons.A

Hitt getting a lot done in his first three
weeks…

Dallas, TX – January 22, 2012:
Today
Dallas Lone Star owner Kevin Hitt unveiled
the new logo for the 2012 season. “We
wanted to keep our colors in line with the
great state of Texas, keeping the red, white
and blue hues,” owner Kevin Hitt said in
today’s press conference. “We believe the
new logo stands out with its modern color
scheme and aesthetic looks.”

A lot of deals must have
been done by the previous owner that left
the current administration with their hands
tied (somewhat). “We found ourselves in a
position where we did not have any picks.
We had no picks in the 1st, 3rd,
5th, 6th or 9th
round of the draft and this definitely hurt
our ability to acquire quality players,”
surmised owner Kevin Hitt. “However, we are
already on our way to a great draft for 2013
as we have acquired another 1st
round pick which will help us select some
quality talent.”
